Tim & Michelle Chewning
Tim and Michelle Chewning opened CSM in the spring of 2016. Combined, the couple have more than 35 years experience in teaching music. Seeing a need for a music school in the growing community of Spring Hill, the Chewnings moved to the area with their twins in 2015 and began searching for an ideal space that would serve the needs of not only Spring Hill, but Thompsons Station, College Grove, South Franklin, as well as northern Maury County. They found the perfect spot in an antebellum home on Main Street in 2016, which they soon outgrew. By late 2019, they began the search for a new CSM space and moved to their current location in Belshire Village and opened the school in February of 2020.
For more than 20 years, Tim has performed and recorded as a drummer with many major recording acts…including, Trace Adkins, John Michael Montgomery, Kathy Mattea, Richard Marx, Shania Twain, Country group Ricochet, Jessica Andrews, and Shaking Family. Tim is also known for having an identifiable voice which has made him a valuable asset to the artists with which he has been hired to tour and record. He also plays guitar and piano and writes and records his unique blend of rock, rhythm and blues, pop, and country influenced original music. Tim’s musical versatility has brought him many great opportunities to perform all over the world and record with notable names in the music industry. Once the twins were born, Tim left the road and began teaching music.
Michelle grew up performing at church and for musical theater, while studying classical music. She entered college as a high school senior to study piano with Dr. Mary Greenhoe, at Tennessee Wesleyan College. While teaching at the WO Smith Music School in Nashville, Michelle found her true calling, left corporate America and began teaching piano, guitar and preschool music full time.
After launching CSM in Spring Hill, they expanded their school to include French horn and trumpet in addition to the lessons already offered for piano, guitar, drums, mandolin, voice and ukulele. This prompted hiring additional instructors to teach. All teachers at CSM have extensive performing and teaching experience.
